Friend Request

Well Kiddies…I’m Back and I am here again with my own brand of movie reviews and more to come on the horizon. Believe me these are big.

Well last night I met up with my old friend Ray and went out to The Angelica Film Center in Mockingbird Station to check out a TFW sponsored advance screening of the upcoming flick Friend Request.

Okay Damn! This flick takes cyber stalking to a new level.

Being one of the more popular girls at her school and in Social Media our main character Laura soon gains the attention of the artist/outcast Marina and soon a variation of Cyber Stalking ensues leading to a incident that ends in Marina’s suicide.

What follows is a series of cyber hacks of the supernatural variety intended to turn Laura’s friends against her and soon Laura’s inner circle of friends find themselves the target of a supernatural entity intent on their deaths.

Friend Request relies heavily on Jump Scares which judging from the audience’s reactions were pretty good but for those of us that are more familiar with the genre are harder to get.
That being said the film was still enjoyable.

The film also relies on the creepy imagery to add to the suspense and over all creepiness of the film. Also utilizing comic relief in the right moments without resorting to campiness.

Over all this flick is quite good in the basic slice and dice category. Fans of Unfriended and the cyberhorrors may enjoy as well as those of you in college. Blair Witch and The Ring also come to mind.
