Burning Bright

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

These are the words of English poet William Blake written about a Tiger in 1794.

Terror comes in many forms on the screen. A good horror movie doesn’t always need the supernatural. Sometimes all that it takes in nature.

Starting in 1975 Generations of movie goers were frightened by a Great White Shark. The appeal of the shark was the fact that the Shark was made by nature and not genetically altered by scienceor thought extinct for millions of years  but just a 25 Foot long 3 ton Great White Shark that had a taste of Human.

What makes some of these films good is not just the beast that is the obstacle that the characters must overcome but it is the characters themselves that make the films appealing.

Last night on Fear Net I caught an airing of Burning Bright. The Plot goes like this.

After the suicide of their mother a young woman trying to place he autistic brother into a home finds out that her stepfather has cleaned out her bank account in order to purchase a Bengal Tiger for the Safari that he wants to turn their home into.

There is a hurricane coming into the area and the stepfather has boarded up the house for the impending storm leaving the two children alone in the house before leaving the house to go to the bar someone lets the tiger loose in the house.

The basic plot of the film here kiddies is you have two youths trapped inside a boarded up house with a hungry tiger that has not been fed in two weeks stalking them.

That is basicly all the plot that you need.

As I stated earlier you don’t always need the supernatural in order to have a good horror movie.
There is also some pretty good actors in the film.

Briana Evigan in the role of Kelly the Heroine manages to successfully carry the film and her performance as a tired sister of an autistic child is worth a second look.

Garret Dillahunt plays a great antagonist.

Meat Loaf has a great Cameo in the beginning as the seller of the tiger.

Charlie Tahan gets extra kudos for his performance of the Autistic brother Tom.
